The Samuel Cocking Garden is a botanical garden on the island of Enoshima, in Kanagawa Prefecture. It contains a beautiful collection of flowers, trees, and bushes, including many tropical plants. There are beautiful wooden pathways winding through and around the area. The park is also particularly beautiful when it is lit up at night. At the center of the garden is the Enoshima Sea Candle, the tall tower that serves as a wonderful observatory for the region (which requires an extra fee to go up). The garden was originated by Samuel Cocking, a British-born and Australian-raised merchant who came to Japan in the mid 1800's among the first foreigners when Japan "opened up" to the international world.
