Looking for a place to have lunch in Hakozaki, I came across this small retro shop – the Nagata Pan Bakery. Being attracted to the 1920s atmosphere and scent of fresh bread, I stepped inside. The delightful rows of bread in the showcase immediately came into my eyes, but then I found myself feeling extremely comfortable in the old fashioned interior. I decided to enjoy the freshly made buns and free coffee you serve for yourself on the second floor, where they have tables, and had a relaxing time, feeling classy.

The Nagata Pan Bakery
The melon bun (in the middle) is the most popular kind in this bakery - outside crunchy, inside soft, and not too sweet
Choco cornet, one of the best sweet buns born in Japan
The second floor is a small calming space where you can enjoy your bread alone as well as with friends
You can serve yourself a coffee for free at the foot of the stairs
Rows and rows of delicious delight
An old clock sets the scene in the old fashioned shop

I agree, I really like the retro atmosphere of this place. It's very simplistic and old-fashioned. I will have to go visit there some time.

I love the Taisho Retro feeling here. It's great that places like this are so well-preserved.
